Morning Haiku Class

Haiku is one of the most important forms of traditional Japanese poetry. Haiku is, today, a 17-syllable verse form consisting of three metrical units of 5, 7, and 5 syllables.

Typically, haikus are written about nature, but they can be about any topic.

They also tend to be written in present tense keeping one connected to the “here and now” in a world often worrying about the past or hurrying to plan the future.

Enjoy a relaxing meditative morning learning a brief history of the art of Haiku poetry and create your own personal Haiku to take home.

Tea and coffee will be provided to get those creative thoughts flowing.
