Mosaic ~ The Journey

Finished TODAY ~ 5in x 5in Mosaic!

Mosaic

I am current participating in a Mosaic Class at the Chicago School of Mosaic

This is my first project ~ finished today… though the grout is still drying the current color will be maintained when dried completely.

This process was so very fun and gave me an opportunity to work in a scale (6in x 6in) that is so much smaller than I have this month. It was a great learning tool to remind me to maintain flexibility in my approach!

…and this morning I started a new piece ~ so more pictures will follow soon!

New STUFF is happening in the Studio!

I am currently enrolled in a Quilt Making class at the Hyde Park Art Center through my participation in The Center Program this year.

I just finished my first sample piece, freshly washed and dried!

This gave me a wonderful opportunity to learn some of the different technical elements of putting together a quilt.

This process really resinated with me as I am constantly placing non-related objects together to explore the narrative that is revealed in the process.

Quilting provides a new way for me to connect the stories.

I have already started on the next piece…

It will be much larger and constructed completely with paper.
